What's happening

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have rescheduled the below maintenance for this coming Saturday, 24 October 2020.

We will be upgrading all our cPanel based servers during this window period:

MariaDB Upgrade to 10.3

As MariaDB 10.1 has now reached end of life, we will be upgrading all of our WHM servers to use MariaDB 10.3 - Unfortunately, as with any upgrade affecting all clients, there is a risk of potential issues for websites making use of newer database server, especially websites making use of outdated CMS's. As this is not an optional upgrade and affects all clients with websites, we encourage you to reach out to your website developer to ensure there are no potential for database issues following the upgrade. There are no expected concerns, however, those running old versions of CMS's may run into potential SQL issues. Please let your developers assess if your website is compatible with MariaDB 10.3, and if not, please let them attend to any changes required so that you do not have any issues following the upgrade.

Removal of all PHP 4 and 5 versions

As both PHP 4 and 5 have reached end of life about 2 years ago, we will be removing these packages from our WHM servers. Any websites still running PHP 4 or 5 should be upgraded to use PHP 7 (we will continue to support all PHP 7 packages). Please reach out to your website developer to ensure that if your website makes use of PHP, that it is compatible with PHP 7. Our team will reach out to all clients making use of these earlier versions to ensure they upgrade to PHP 7.2 or 7.3 (we recommend PHP 7.3) before the removal of these versions

PHP 7.4 compatibility

During the rebuilding of our Apache configuration, we will be adding PHP 7.4. We have already begun doing this and have found some issues with modules not available as expected, so encourage clients to use 7.3 for now unless your software requires you to explicitly make use of PHP 7.4

---

Once the above is completed, each WHM server will be rebooted which will lead to some downtime and potential degraded performance for about an hour after the reboot. Although we schedule maintenance for the entire day, each server will be attended to individually and will not be “off” for the entire maintenance window. We do however suggest that you notify your web developer of the above notification so that they can be on standby to test your website and individual functionality. Should you have any questions, please reach out to our team and we will gladly assist where we can.

Updates & notes

We have had a couple of clients requesting more time to prepare for the above changes, we have thus moved our maintenance scheduled for the 26th of September to 24 October 2020.

During this installation, all networking equipment will be switched off momentarily and moved to be powered by our ATS which may lead to connectivity issues. We do not foresee any extended downtime during this maintenance window.

rcp1.intelli.host

What's happening

Please note that the below maintenance only affects accounts setup on rcp1.intelli.host

We have completed the neccesary upgrades to the host that will house our rcp1.intelli.host server and are ready to move rcp1.intelli.host to it's final home. Unfortunately, due to the size of our cPanel based servers, we are unable to do a live migration and for your safety, we need to physically shutdown the cPanel server and make a full copy of the server its cloud host. The copy of the entire virtual server (rcp1.intelli.host) is estimated to take around 5 hours. Once the copy is done, rcp1.intelli.host will immediately be booted on the new hardware. In the event of any issues related to the copy of the server, we'll start rcp1.intelli.host on the current hardware and reschedule maintenance.
